Lagos State Effort towards Alleviating Hardship: Palliative Reaches Igbe Through Zonal Collaboration

In line with President Tinubu’s promise to alleviate the hardships faced by citizens due to prevailing national policies, a significant stride has been made in Igbe, igbogbo Lagos State. The much-awaited palliative, initially dispatched from the federal level, has finally trickled down to the grassroots level, reaching the Igbe community via the collaborative efforts of the LCDA, CDC and CDC Zone 10 also known as Igbe joint CDA.

The journey of the palliative, which traversed from the state to Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA, and eventually to Igbe through CDC Zone 10 (igbe joint CDA) comprising of over 30 Community Development Associations (CDAs), showcases a commendable display of organizational skill among the people at helmets of the zone 10 CDC. Despite the complexities involved, the Zonal Executive exhibited a deep negotiation skills, arriving at an equitable distribution formula for the items which include Garri, Rice and Beans

The elders, chiefs and opinion moulders also got a feel of the palliative.
This time the palliative went a little further than what the state and the federal government have been giving to the people in Lagos.
The people we spoke to on how they felt about the initiative, Mr Esuola of Mercyland estate said the food distribution came at a time they needed it. He said although he never expected to be among the people to enjoyed it as he never submitted his LASRA when it was requested by the excos, but thanked the CDA executive for letting it cut across every one, even if it is small

In most CDA it was distributed among the people that were captured in the Lagos state stayed requirements of everyone having LASRA.

Upon arrival, the palliative garnered appreciation from community members, including elders, chiefs, and opinion leaders, who acknowledged its timely arrival amidst pressing needs for food among the people. Notably, Mr. Esuola of Mercyland Estate expressed gratitude for the inclusive distribution approach adopted by the CDA executive, which extended the relief even to those who hadn’t submitted their Lagos State Residents’ Registration Agency (LASRA) details which was the requirements for the rights to be among the eligible. This gesture underscores a commitment to ensuring that the palliative reaches every deserving individual, regardless of administrative hurdles.

Furthermore, the distribution highlighted a degree of adherence to LASRA requirements, with the palliative primarily allocated to individuals in compliant with the state’s registration. However, amidst the acclaim for the initiative’s efficacy, voices advocating for its expansion to include those without LASRA registration resonated strongly. Comparisons drawn with the efficiency of utility providers, such as electricity distribution companies (Discos), underscored the call for governmental entities to devise comprehensive strategies for equitable palliative distribution.
Some even said this little efforts even if its almost late should be given a pass mark as never before has the community received the type of item distributed

As aspirations for continued support and broader accessibility echo within the community, the success of this endeavor serves as a testament to the power of collaborative efforts in navigating adversity at the grassroots level.
