Trending issues in Igbe town

For some time  the residents of igbe a town in Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA that is in between ijede and Elepe have always been experiencing several issues due to the dilapidating state their roads are in. During the tenure of the last Governor of Lagos State Ambode,   a relief came their way as the forgotten road that link the town to the outside world was awarded to a contractor for an express road that would have joined the ikorodu road at Ogolonto and the Itamaga Ijede road, this project had remained in comatose since 7 years due to not been funded by the Sanwo Olu lead government.

The hardship have now gone past what the people living on the axis can bear, for this they came together to raise fund to at least get the road graded and make it passable for cars and trucks, this they have been able to achieve with all Community contributions, the Mosques, churches, companies, educational institutions and individuals coming together and were able to raise close to 10,000,000 (10 million Naira) naira to be able to get a a large part of the road graded.

  1. After the grading what they are complaining of now is the high rate been charged by transporters and on the road. For a journey of not more than 15minutes from the ikorodu garage or Ojubode also close to the garage the transporters chari from #500-#700 naira. The Okadas for a journey of 5minutes charge #200. If one is going from Laara bus stop to say Crown best college in Banana Estate,  one of the most popular and well structured school in igbe town, the journey that is not more than 5 minutes the Okada will likely charge #300 naira normally the cost should not be more than 100 naira.

The discuss now is how do we bring down the transport fees.

In discussion on one on the most popular WhatsAPP platform in the community IPAKODO-IGBOGBO-HAMED TINUBU-IGBE-GINTI ROAD PALLIATIVE GROUP  the matter have been  in discuss now for some days. A contributor Joseph Obe started by writing the following

“I congratulate all the stake holders in the palliative measures to make road ccess to Igbe from Igbogbo and Ginti less worrisome. But one will easily observe that the commercial drivers on these roads are not considerate with their passengers at all. From Benson or garrage bus stops it costs ₦300 to Ogijo.

But journey from Igbe Laara to Ginty costs 3₦300/400, Elepe ₦400 and Ikorodu Garage ₦500/600.
We should collectively resist this exploitation. I am calling on the management of this platform to please do something. Thank you.” What Other contributors said are below

At some point one of the contributors introduced humor and started talking in parables. After all the discussion nothing came out of the discussion as Nigerians only talk but never walk the talk as said by one of the people on the platform
